Donor Register
In the UK there are over 13.5 million names on the NHS Organ Donor Register, including 310,300 or 16% of the population of NI Nine out of ten people in the UK say they support organ donation yet only 2 in 10 have taken action and put their names on the Register.
Waiting
There are around 8000 people in the UK waiting for some form of transplant, 310 in Northern Ireland, a reduction of 9% on last year. 360 of these are for liver transplant, 21 in Northern Ireland.
Transplants
In the year to March 31st 2006, 2800 transplants were carried out, down 11% on last year. 592 were liver transplants, down 17% on last year and 13 of these live in Northern Ireland
